Help students explore careers, develop confidence, and better understand opportunities beyond high school.
Many students have limited exposure to the wide range of careers, educational pathways, and professional opportunities available to them. STEP mentors help students gain insight, encouragement, and real-world perspective from individuals working across various industries and professions.
Mentors may:
Share career experiences
Participate in career discussions
Answer student questions
Provide guidance on professionalism
Support career exploration
Participate in workshops or panels
Maintain professional and respectful communication
Support STEP’s educational mission
Follow STEP safety and youth protection guidelines
Communicate appropriately with students
Participate at a level that fits your availability
STEP understands professionals have varying schedules, and mentorship opportunities may range from one-time discussions to longer-term involvement.
STEP is committed to maintaining safe, respectful, and professional mentorship environments for all participants. As such all mentors must have a parent present on the email chain with the students and a representative from STEP. All communication is to be limited to emails that meet this requirement. If meeting with a student a parent must be present.
